System Infrastructure
The
QuickDine Electronic Payment System

The
QuickDine system
is more than just an automated cash recording facility. Its a proven
solution installed in over 30 sites backed by trained personnel
with many years of experience installing and supporting education
catering.
At
the core of the system lies the server PC. This usually resides
in the catering office. In this event all pupil account information
is kept here. Alternatively the school may wish to link up their
Admin server to the cashless payment system in order to process
remote payments via cheque or credit card. Additionally the
QuickDine System
can exchange data with Capita Sims.Net TM
C-MIS TM P.A.R.S. TM
or to other available software modules available in the QuickDine
TM range such as pupil Sports activity monitoring
software.Healthy Eating promotion, Nutritional reporting or a Financial
accounting package
Reports
At
the end of each trading session, the catering supervisor may access
data which includes the value of the current transactions and daily
takings analysis . In the case where single or multiple revaluation
units are installed, these too are connected to the PC, so that money
is credited and is available instantaneously for the pupil to spend.
Additionally the catering manager may access the pupil account in
real-time in order to query student balances or individual revaluation
or spending transactions.
Point
Of Sale Unit
This
small footprint PC unit has an integral touch screen it works
on a similar process to a standard preset till keyboard. All
operator functions are shown on screen, these are easliyactivated
by light finger touch. Multiple menu screens are provided
to cater for different
Breakfast,
Break & Lunchtime menus, ensuring that only those items relevant
to that service period are displayed.
There are no mechanical switches to wear out
as with other keyboard systems.
Security
In
addition to increases in pupil throughput, security has been of
prime concern. When a card is swiped or the pupils fingerprint is
read, the photo image of the account holder appears on the screen,
enabling the operator to verify that the correct card is being used
by the student. Images are imported directly from the school Capita
SIMS TM
or CMIS TM system. This ensures system integrity.
This also provides a cost effective way of running a card based
system rather than having to issue separate Photo-ID cards. The
cards may be recycled at the end of the school year to the new school
intake. Costs of ownership are reduced yet the school benefits from
a highly flexible and effective system.
Built
To Serve !
Reliability
has been of prime concern. We cannot stress too highly the level
of reliability built into this device by careful design. This Pos
unit is not just a collection of separate components sourced from
various manufacturers shoe-horned in a plastic housing, as which
we have seen recently with some Dining systems. .Not so..This is
a quality almost industrial engineered unit comprising of a high
specification motherboard with a 2Ghz Processor ,Usb 2.0, 256 or
512 MB Ram choice, The world renowned ELO touch screen system is
a standard feature. The aluminium housing was a massive financial
investment on behalf of the manuafacturer, it ensures that cooler
operating environment is provided for all of the internal components.
The power supply unit is housed sepatately furthe contributing to
the reliability of this product as a whole. As testament to the
build quality of this product, it is rapidly becoming the premier
choice of worldwide high street outlets such as, Burger King, KFC,
McDonalds, Haagen-Dazs, Pizza Hut & Post Office Counter Shops
(U.K.) confirming that this manufacturer has a well earned first
class reputation in the food service & Public sectors.
Join
The Video Age ! As
from July 06, a dual VGA graphics processor is now shipped at no
additional cost. This device allows a simple future upgrade path
to dual screen output (as show
n
below). Our video information software module, allows single image
or live video advertising clips such as tomorrows menu choices,
special offers, important school events or healthy eating information
or indeed just about anything to be displayed at the rear of the
till on an optional 12" integrated LCD screen. This may also
double up as the customer display (as below). Alternatively the
video output may be routed to wallmounted LCD or Plasma screens
for even greater impact.
Not
all systems are created equal ! Our
Quickdine 15" LCD terminal shown earlier, has a small footprint
requiring less counter space. It is a one piece PC boasting a diecast
body of heavy gauge industrial quality aluminium, Quite unlike some
cashless offerings seen recently. i.e. a plastic 12" touch screen
is mounted above a
separate
desktop pc with display !!!!.
Cheaper ?. Possibly..... Practical?... Most Certainly Not !
Would
you really want all of this cluttering your kitchen sales area ???
New
feature ! Automatic Stand-alone Opertation and Network Data Recovery.
No
more frantic scribbling down card numbers & meal items on paper
in the event of a Network Failure. We
have recently added this exciting new feature. If a tillpoint should
lose it's network connection or indeed should a network completely
malfunction for some reason, the tillpoints will not stop working.
They will switch to Independent operation. This will allow staff to
process sales as normal via fingerprint or card minimising the disruption
of such an event. When the network is recovered the stored data will
be transmitted back to the server PC.

Secure Revaluation Units
A
steel housing with recessed door & twin locking points provide
enhanced security. The Coin/Note Revaluation units are
designed
to be positioned at key positions at the school. The number of units
required is often dependant upon the number of pupils at the school
and how many pupils are likely to bring cash rather than cheque.
The
Revaluation unit has been designed to be as user-friendly as possible.
The unit may handle a range of coins, a note reader is now available
as standard either way the "reval" unit reduces the amount
of cash being carried by pupils, providing security, stremlining the
cash handling process and reduces the opportunity of bullying.
The neutral colour of the Revaluation allows it to blend in easily
into the school environment. These units are secure yet easily emptied
by the relevant personnel.
New
Biometric I.D We
have added exciting new cutting edge technology to our product. Rather
than "re invent the wheel" we have chosen a proven fingerprint
system from an established specialist biometric i.d. company. This
has been integrated into the QuickDine cashless trading solutio
n.
The tough industrial housed scanner has been chosen over many units
we have tested over an 18 month period. It is robust and with good
captured print quality, will return a pupil i.d. from a database of
25,000 prints in under 1 second. The fingerprint scanning system is
utilised both at the tillpoint(s) and at the wall mounted revaluation
unit. Our BioScanID biometric system removes completely the
necessity for additional card administration within the school. Additionally
pupils no longer have the excuse that they cannot afford a replacement
card or have forgotten their card. They may continue to purchase at
the dining facility without interruption.
C.C.T.V.
A
low cost real-time video CCTV system may be incorporated to monitor
the units if they are sited in less public areas. The CCTV may be
programmed to automatically record events as pupils approach the revaluer.
all data is stored on the server and may be reviewed later.
